Soulscape is a painting process developed by the work of Jassy Watson Earthist who combines her love and connection with the land in painting with Intentional Creativity®
Join two women friends, lifelong artists who are working across the globe from Australia to the United States to bring their unique message and approach to creating. The two, Jassy and Shiloh have teamed up to teach in both AUS and the US since 2013 and now are bringing together their compatable technologies in Soulscape. We we hope you will join us for this experience in creativity and sacred painting in a circle of women. Supported by Suzette Murray of Ochre Earth and Soulful H'Art Studio and Gisela Pineiro of Artuition with Gisela who will also be coming from Australia .
MUSEA is delighted to welcome Jassy, the founder of the Color of Woman branch of Intentional Creativity Teacher Training in Australia. And we invite you to SOULSCAPE: WHERE EARTH CONNECTION MEETS CREATIVE EXPRESSION
I come from a long line of tree people and green thumbs and consider myself truly blessed to have had been raised in the rugged Australian bush and countryside where nature was my playground. I was taught to tread lightly on the earth and have always wanted to inspire others to do the same. I discovered some time ago that although I wanted to tie myself to trees in old growth forests in protest and stand with placards to fight against such things as mining, the gift of art was to be my voice to help raise earth awareness. My work is steeped in an Earthist philosophy that encourages planet before profit. The world is a sanctuary and we must treat it as such. My images are not only a reflection of my personal relationship with the earth, but are reminders for all of us to remember and honour this sacred connection. It is through art that I have come to know the world around me in a more meaningful way; a way that connects me to place, the ancestors, earth and cosmos. To date I have led and participated in numerous Earth Arts projects including co-ordinating a nationwide Earth Arts Festival, Curating ‘Voices for the Earth’ group art exhibition for the last 3 years and teaching hundreds of workshops to women and children that aim to deepen ones connection to the earth through creativity. It is through the power of image that we can inspire a return to the earth and remember our sacred connection to it. Soulscape is a creative journey that inspires you to do just this.
What is Soulscape™?
Soulscape™ is a step-by-step Intentional Creativity® mixed media and painting journey developed by Jassy Watson, that invites you to deepen and explore connections to the earth through creative expression.
Let's PLAY: Explore and experiment with different materials and applications such as found objects, stenciling, collage and finger painting: Cut, Paste, Make a mess, Rip, Tear, Shred, Squirt, Mix, Stamp.
OBSERVATION: See the world through the eyes of an artist with an invitation to using a drawing practice that requires no drawing talent! Not only does drawing bring a sense of mindfulness and peace to our day, it makes one stop and really ‘see’ the world outside in a whole new way. Drawing and observing the world around you informs, influences and inspires content for the Soulscape™ process, it assists you to find patterns, motifs, shapes and form in nature. To create the leaf, one must first know the leaf.
“I have learned that what I have not drawn, I have never really seen, and that when I start drawing an ordinary thing, I realize how extraordinary it is, a sheer miracle.” (Frederick Franck)
PAINT: Through a triple step process be guided on a visual journey to create a unique and authentic Soulscape™ painting that sees your image first emerging from a primal threshold and evolving into an expressive story that reflects a merging of both inner and outer landscapes on canvas.
Learn about colour and composition, materials and their application through the paint process.
I have successfully taught Soulscape as a painting method for nearly 3 years after spending much time tracking and recording the way I developed my paintings to create an approach that I could teach to others. As a formally trained professional artist, Intentional Creativity teacher and business owner I bring many years of experience to the canvas. As my work continually grows and develops I feel that it is time now for me to share the curriculum I have developed so that this way of working is available to the teachers in this community. I would love nothing more than to see other artists and teachers, especially those who feel passionate about the earth, share this creative journey with their beloveds.
Soulscape™ is a step-by-step Intentional Creativity® mixed media painting journey that inspires you to:
Benefits to you as an IC Teacher:
• It will be good for business! Another creative tool for the basket = added offerings for beloveds. • Soulscape is a painting process that can be overlaid with any Intentional Creativity® theme or teaching that you may already be offering. • Improve on your skills as an artist. • Gain an understanding of the basic elements of art and design covering topics such as colour and composition. • Experiment with and learn how to employ a number of mixed media materials. • Soulscape™ is perfect for offering short, day-long & weekend painting workshops • It is also a particularly good process to offer on cultural retreats, as it lends itself as a way to process and record a ‘whole experience of’.

It is perfect for beginners as it encourages a sense of play and fun, while it also offers the more experienced artist other ways of thinking and application. • Soulscape™ can be used purely to create fun painting workshops, or as a process for the deeper healing and transformational nature of Intentional Creativity®, benefiting beloveds across all spectrums.

“Where Inner & Outer Landscapes Merge”
A bit more background to this process and why it lends itself to our Intentional Creativity® community.
I believe that to create is instinctual in us since birth. You only need to watch a child who has just learnt how to hold a pencil or crayon and see how they draw with absolute spontaneity; no thinking, no planning – just creating.
Since I could hold a pencil, an Artist, was all I ever wanted to be. There have been times however on this artists journey that I have been on the verge of giving it all up. Whatever was living inside of me creatively was fighting to get out but I had no idea what to do about it.
Consequently, in the early days of deciding that the life of a full-time artist was what I was going to pursue, I strived to find a personal style but grappled with the connection between my view of the outside world and how that related to and informed my inner world and further how to express that creatively. I was always so busy and absorbed with the outside world and trying to recreate it like I had been taught to at art school, that I neglected my personal dreamtime.
It was when I undertook the Color of Woman Training back in 2013 that I discovered I had not been looking within enough for content and meaning. Shiloh Sophia's story of never having anyone at art school show her how to look inside for content resonated with me, like it has so for so many women and the training acted as a gateway for me to access these hidden parts and express them through image and word. I have always felt spiritually connected to the land and to my ancestors since I was a young girl, but it was Intentional Creativity® that reminded me this was an integral part of my story that needed to be expressed on canvas.
After working on looking within I discovered through a dedicated painting practice that it was in the coming together of inner and outer landscapes where I found myself able to create my most authentic work. It was also through constantly challenging my approach and questioning my practice that I was able deepen and refine my explorations with content and material.
I am curious as to how I can paint a tree without really panting the tree? How can I express the awe and captivation I feel about a wintry blue sky or the rich red volcanic soil I am surrounded by in a non-literal way? What are my personal unique marks that I can use to tell my story in paint like the ancients did? How can I tell the story of the land and my ancestors through symbol, shape and non-literal form? What are the common motifs, symbols and patterns in nature that connect my unique place in the world to my identity and story? From this constant asking of questions and exploring and experimenting with pen and paint Soulscape™ was born.
While Soulscape™ is methodical in approach it contrastingly also lends itself to randomness and is mostly an instinctive, intuitive and imaginative process whereby the canvas will often inform the artist with a story unfolding layer-by- layer, mark by mark.
The abstract, expressive image created is inspired and influenced largely by experience of and relationship to the world around you and inspirations and awakenings from within you.
It teaches you to observe the world through the eyes of an artist, to see and create in a non-literal way and to develop a narrative through abstracted shape and form. It invites you to let go of expectation and to return to a sense of play and spontaneity.
In essence, a Soulscape™ painting can be whatever you want it to be.
Soulscape™ is suited to all levels of experience and will provide you with tools for future creative explorations no matter where you are on your art journey.
TRANSFORM: See the world in a new way ILLUMINATE: Express inner and outer worlds through image EDUCATE: Understand the basic foundations of art and design principles. INSPIRE: Take your experiences and inspirations to the canvas MOTIVATE: Making art as a daily practice
Dear One,
All the women in my family are artists and every single one of them has a special relationship with trees. As a child growing up we would often sit with trees outside listening and learning from the bark and the foliage and the trunk and the roots. I can remember images from each of my family members, including my grandmother, working with trees. My mom even has the family tapestry that she created; once again, trees.
The theme of the tree of life has been woven throughout my work since my early 20's. I’ve been teaching and drawing and sharing the images of trees and the sacred feminine all of my career. Women and trees and our relationship with the earth seems like almost the starting place for waking up for women on the path, because if we don’t understand our relationship with this earth then how can we truly understand who we are in our relationship with the cosmos? The tree is the being that reaches both.
I could not be more delighted to bring my sister-friend colleague Jassy Watson back to the United States to share her gift of Soulscape with the particular theme of tree woman, AND to invite you to become certified and teach this process to your own students! This is a rare opportunity, one that I highly recommend if this process calls you.
Jassy and I have taught together over many years with a strong connection since 2014. We have been dreaming about her sharing the tree woman teachings in addition to her certification program, designed specifically for our Intentional Creativity teachers, for several years. Jassy is somebody who has truly understood the power of Intentional Creativity. Already a painter, she brought our teachings into her work and now has taught hundreds.
She works with all ages and I’m particularly impressed on the work she does with young girls.
Jassy has combined Intentional Creativity and Soulscape to bring us this offering. We look forward to gathering together as Guild by 17 redwood trees in Sonoma for the Soulscape Certification + Treewoman Workshop, which will also include students from our greater IC Community!
many blessings,

Soulscape is a freeing exercise of play through each layer of the process that enables those with or without experience to produce both a beautiful and meaningful piece. Jassy's style of teaching has brought me to many of her painting classes and inspired me to become an IC teacher. As I'm always looking to expand my offerings to the women I gather in circle, I am so excited that Soulscape certification will be offered to all of us. Thank you Jassy!!

I had been dabbling in fine art when I was told by a friend to seek out Jassy Watson in my home-town of Bundaberg to help me find my own style and to learn new ways of creating art. I have learnt so much from Jassy’s workshops and I also had the privilege of attending her Bali Heart Retreat where we painted in her Soulscape method. Jassy is an incredibly talented artist who is very willing to share her knowledge. That is amazing just in itself. I have come away from this process a better ARTIST on lots of levels. I would recommend any of Jassy’s workshops.

Tree Woman a very profound experience bringing me closer to nature, grounding and myself. Her process of painting “Tree Women” became an inspiration for me to carry on painting , showing me - I Can Paint..... I Can Use Colour....... My Painting Does Not Need To Be Perfect....I can Relax And Let The Inner Me out..........

Not only was I able to create my magnificent tree woman with the wonderful guidance of Jassy's step by step instructions and her warm passionate approach, I was able to remove layers of unnecessary fears I held within myself. If you get the chance, I highly recommend Jassy's Tree Woman class to get in touch with the creative beauty you have within.

"Thank you! I am SO grateful for this process. The painting that I am working on is the first painting I have done (for over twenty years). I am in awe of the depth that I moved into, the awareness that so much is going on simultaneously in my life and that this is just what I need to be doing for a whole variety of reasons. Thank you Shiloh! Thank you Jonathan! Thank you team that has worked tirelessly in the background. "~Meghan
"I am just amazed! I have the most beautiful painting, but more importantly my painting tells me a story. My story. This process has healed my heart and I will continue to use the process long after the weekend. Thank you so much." ~ Sabrina
"The heartfelt acceptance and nurturing and connection to the work, the experience and the community was just beautiful. I applaud all of you for your amazing efforts. I experienced a huge shift in my spiritual, emotional and physical areas in my life and I am a real fan of Shiloh and Jonathan’s work." ~Karina
"I'm a newbie to painting and Intentional Creativity, and this course definitely "hooked" me. There was so much information shared in this course from Jonathan and Shiloh. I can't say that I absorbed it all, but it was all very mind-expanding. I'm pretty sure there was smoke coming out of my head a few times as I tried to process things or from being blown away by it all. Fantastic! "~Patty Iammatteo

Shiloh Sophia lives life as a great adventure narrated by the creative fire of her Muse! She has been painting, writing poetry, publishing books, and teaching at universities, the United Nations, and in her own programs around the world for over twenty years.
Her soul work is inspired by the idea that self-expression is a basic human ability and that each person has a right to know how they think and feel, and the freedom to express themselves in the world. Her research and development around this idea has focused on serving women and girls through giving them access to methods of transformational art-making through stories, symbols, and inquiry.
She is the co-curator and founder of the Intentional Creativity Foundation (ICF) and Cosmic Cowgirls, a woman and girl owned organization, that serves between 500 and 5000 women a month. ICF and Cosmic Cowgirls provide revolutionary education, made available both online and on-location. The school, inn, and museum are located in Sonoma County, California and is called MUSEA Sophia.
Shiloh Sophia also founded a Teacher Training, Color of Woman, which certifies women to teach Intentional Creativity worldwide. Currently there are close to 200 teachers in the lineage who are part of the Intentional Creativity Guild. Shiloh has taught her work at Universities in global PhD and Masters programs, bringing the technology of Intentional Creativity into academia. She has also presented her work and research at the United Nations four years in a row at UNCSW. Shiloh has published many books on creativity, including coloring books and journals, and has illustrated books and decks including the Mother Mary Oracle with Alana Fairchild and Hard Times Require Furious Dancing for Alice Walker. Her most recent book, Tea with the Midnight Muse, features twenty years of poetry as invocation, along with inquiries to spark your Muse fuse! Shiloh lives in the vineyard-lined hills with her husband, Jonathan, who is also a poet and artist. Their Muses can be found most mornings having tea and discussing quantum physics, philosophy, and sacred texts in the Red Thread Cafe.
From Suzy:
I'm Suzy, originally from California, I've called Australia home for the last 25 years. As a 2017 IC graduate, I have shared my truth, passion and purpose through gathering women in circle to express their inquiry, story and heart through intentional creativity. Ochre Earth is a space I've created in a small country town where you'll find unique and beautiful clothing, jewellery, furnishings and art. And a space to create with others. (Ochre Earth Facebook)
Grateful to call Jassy my Red Thread sister, I have taken many classes with her, became an Intentional Creativity teacher because of her, and learnt many skills through working with her. Soulscape is a technique I'm excited about adding to my offerings. And I can't wait to come home to Cali and assist Jassy and Shiloh with this process. With an open mind, open heart and willingness to peel back the layers to reveal my rawest, most authentic self, I am proud to be participating in the Soulscape offering.
From Gisela Pineiro: I'm Gisela, a creative medicine woman and working artist in Perth, Australia.
